PSE Archery Fang Reviews
Via cantactic.com
PSE Archery has been open for a long time - since 1971! Ever since they opened their doors for the first time, they have been manufacturing bows, crossbows, and hunting equipment.
So, one of their top sellers is the Fang. It’s affordable, and many people seem to love the Fang for hunting.
Pros:
Cons:
Product Features:
This is a significant upgrade compared to the old version of the Fang. We salute every change because it made this fantastic weapon!
On the other hand, is it worth all the rage? Let’s find out below in this incredibly detailed review of the PSE Fang!
Things To Consider Before Buying:
There are a few things to consider before you opt for the PSE Fang. First of all, consider the dimensions.
By all means, this is not a compact crossbow - so it’s not suitable for someone with a smaller build. Also, it’s not the best choice for hunting in the tree stands because of their size.
Moreover, the weight of 7.3 pounds makes it simply unsuitable for someone with a smaller frame for one more reason.
That would be the weight of the crossbow - because it could be too much to carry around all day!

Tech Specs
Assembly
The assembly of this crossbow is rather easy - truly something we deem important. If you are inexperienced in the crossbow world, the assembly may seem like the worst nightmare.
Luckily, it’s a piece of cake to assemble this crossbow. If you experience any issues, though, you can watch this educational video!
Build Quality and Design
When we’re talking about the build quality and the design, the first thing that comes to mind is the nice balance of the crossbow.
It’s perfectly stable when you’re shooting, so it almost guarantees success!
The crossbow’s weight is moderate, meaning it could be too heavy for someone with a smaller frame. What we liked is that it comes with an adjustable buttstock!
Do note that the PSE Fang is quite heavy in the front end.
That shouldn’t be an issue if you’re shooting with a tripod, but if you’re shooting free-hand, it could be pretty heavy, since it weighs 7.3 pounds.
What we especially liked about the design is that it comes with limb dampers and string silencers.
Not many crossbow packages include these two, and we believe that this is something principal.
The dampers and silencers are not the best, but they could be enough for your liking. If they aren’t, you can always purchase some higher-quality ones.
Safety
Via Amazon.com
What we loved is that the PSE Fang comes with safety mechanisms. Of course, it comes with an anti-dry-fire mechanism, which keeps you and your crossbow safe.
Also, it has an auto-safety trigger similar to the safety rifles have. The Fang also allows decocking without firing the bolts.
Speed
The speed of the PSE Fang is something we always like to talk about. At 134 pounds of draw weight, it achieves a shot speed of 405 FPS!
That means it’s enough for hunting all kinds of game. At lower speeds, it can achieve up to 155 pounds of draw weight.
Accuracy
This crossbow is incredibly accurate, thanks to the scope it comes with. This scope allows adjustable speed, so you can hunt any type of game you set your eyes to.
Via Amazon.com
The 4x32mm scope uses reverse cam technology.
In other words, that means that this technology increases the power and the shot speed while allowing you to aim with ease.
What’s more, the sope is removable so if you feel that it’s not up to your standards, you can always remove it and purchase one that suits you better!
Accessories
We’d like to talk about the 22” bolts the crossbow comes with in the accessories section.
Via Amazon.com
Commonly, crossbows come with 20” bolts. We liked that these are longer and with 100-grain tips. Also, the bolts are carbon, and there are 3 of them included.
There is no great difference between the 20” and 22” bolts, but you will need to change them if you are familiar with 20” bolts.
However, if you have a bit of a smaller frame, cocking a 22” bolt can be a bit difficult.
Like we already mentioned, the PSE Fang comes with a reticle scope. Other notable accessories that come with this package are the quiver, the limb dampers, and the string silencers.

For some reason, the PSE Fang and you might not be the best fit for hunting.
That is precisely the reason why we have searched for decent alternatives that might suit you better.

The Barnett’s Whitetail Hunter 2 is a great crossbow. It’s lightweight, has a relatively thin, significant fast shot speed, and it comes with bolts included!
However, the draw weight is much lower than the draw weight of our top pick!
The Sniper 370 by Centerpoint is in the hall of fame of affordable crossbows.
It’s powerful, not too heavy, and it comes with bolts. With the speed of 370 FPS, a great choice every time!
The Fever by SA Sports is so lightweight; it’s a perfect choice for everyone.
The shot speed and the draw weight are lower than the specs of our top pick, but if you’re looking for a light crossbow - this is the one!
The Warrior G3 manufactured by the Wicked Ridge is a speedy crossbow with decent draw weight.
However, it weighs 12 pounds, which can be too heavy to carry all day for some of us!

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, and PSE Archery takes special pride in that. They make all of their hunting equipment in Tucson, Arizona!
Well, the PSE Fang comes with 100-grain carbon 22” bolts, but that doesn’t mean you have to use those.
You can use much heavier bolts - like the 400-grain ones, and you will find that those work much better and that they are better for your crossbow’s life.
Conclusion:
To conclude, the PSE Archery’s Fang is a great crossbow. It offers a lot while retaining an affordable price tag.

When we’re talking about the price versus the performance, we can say that this crossbow has both. It’s affordable, but not at the expense of the performance!
